Underberg, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa

The town of Underberg is so named because of its location beneath the Southern Drakensberg Mountains. The town boasts 3 golf courses and numerous rivers for fly fishing, swimming, rafting, canoeing and tubing.

In summer months, Underberg makes the perfect base for canoeists who plan to paddle the rivers in the area from the uMkomazi to the uMzimkulu. The town is also the perfect destination for horseriding and polo.

Underberg has also become the heart of the southern Drakensberg resort area and makes a ideal base for a variety of activities, such as hiking, fishing and trips up the Sani Pass. Most visitors make their way to this area for the Splashy Fen Music Festival.
